Artsy Fartsy Day

Today is my Artsy Fartsy Day where I get my hands dirty with Acrylic paints and teeny weeny brushes!

I am suppose to be studying, really... I did for (I think) 3 hours!

I am planning to do some Super Mario 8bit painting on 4"X4" canvas. It is really not that hard, it just takes one to WANT to try something different that is artsy.

Painting was never my kinda thing but what got me buying Acrylic paint was more for nail art. If you scroll down, you'd see how I got myself started with painting these.

What else should I think of doing in life while I'm young and motivated? How do you like my painting? LoLz!

Red Back Spiderlings!!

Broodles's (Red Back Spider) baby spiderlings!!

I can't believe it! It's so cool to see so many baby venomous spiders and what's better is you see them eat each other up!

I'm so tired...long day today. Fell asleep in the state library, train, Adelaide University Garden.

More macro pictures tomorrow!

Spider: Red Back VS Black Widow

Extra information:

"The notorious Black Widow Spider (Latrodectus sp) of the United States is a close relative of the Redback Spider (Latrodectus hasselti), and only differs in appearance by the absence of a red dorsal stripe." [Link]

"The black widow spider (Latrodectus spp.) is a spider notorious for its neurotoxic venom."

" The redback spider has a neurotoxic venom which is toxic to humans with bites causing severe pain"

[Wikipedia]

"Although the name 'black widow spider' is most commonly used to refer to the three North American species best known for their dark coloration, black hair and red hourglass pattern, occasionally it is applied to several other members of a the Latrodectus (widow spider) genus in which there are 31 recognized species including the Australian red-back, brown widow spider (sometimes called the gray widow), and the red widow spider."

Red Back Spider (also known as Black Widow)

Red Back Spider (similar to Black Widow)
feeding on Garden Orb Weaver that is larger than herself.

There were two garden orb weavers the size of my thumb forming a gigantic web at my garden.
I caught them in the two tiniest container (only my thumb could fit in) just nice to fit one spider each. The process was excitingly dangerous. I liked it though.

Within seconds of putting garden orb weaver 1 into Broodles tank, the orb had no chance in survival. It was immediately stunned and wrapped.
These pictures were taken perhaps, 10 seconds after putting garden orb weaver 1 in the tank.

Guess what? I just found out the tank was made in Malaysia! (as seen on image)

Black Widow Spider

Click on image to enlarge! Great composition :)

Name: Broodles (I don't know why, couldn't think of a name)

This picture was taken before she became my pet! No intentions of keeping the spiderlings with their mother because the tank for Broodles is not air tight. Therefore they are kept in another container. I wonder if I'll see hundreds of baby redbacks in the near future.

Not that I'm evil or anything, but it'll be great to witness the nature of spiders. I heard they are borned defenders. They run for their lives or attack/eat to stay alive as soon as they are born.

Wicked.

Exotic Pet! Redback @ Black Widow

This is my new pet :) She's a well fed Redback... look at her huge bum! LoL... One day, I told Edward about our new exotic pet.

Tale :
We showed pictures of our new pet - redback to Eddy. Minutes later, he poked me and whispered to my ear, "We shall take that icky spider away, and squish it!!". I didn't know how to react to that. *Looks left and right thinking of what to say*
Little did he know I had a pregnant Redback which had thousands of babies! Sadly, my previous housemate took them away when I went back to Malaysia. But anyway, I stared at Eddy. "Eeerrmm.. *smiLes as cute as pOssibLe*.. the redback is kinda....mine. Not his."
Edward stayed away from me ever since. "I'm still gonna squish it!"
*hehe!*

Ooh! I would have made AUD1000 from the redback babies...~ Heard there's this place in Adelaide - Handorf is buying redbacks for $1 each!
My redback has now been transfered (by me ^^) to a bigger home. More info on how I got the spiders? Click
HERE!

Do leave comments on names for this pet =). Thank you!
